Network Your Fundraising Page

The fundraising page you get when you register for The Dude Hates Cancer is, perhaps, your best resource for raising money. Personalize it -- put your picture up, tell people why you're raising money (even if it's just to win free booze!), and be sure to set a goal. Then promote it via:

• Email: Send it out to friends, family, and co-workers; add the link to your email signature
• Facebook and other social networking sites
• Tattoo (someplace everyone will see it!)*

*Just kidding about that tattoo part.

Throw Your Own Fundraising Event

The possibilities here are endless. Here are just a few ideas for fundraising events you could organize to raise additional money:

• Throw a happy hour with friends and/or co-workers asking for a nominal donation
• Organize a pub crawl
• Set up a concert with some bands you know at a bar or outdoor music venue
• Do a good, old-fashioned carwash
• Call together a poker tournament with half or all of the pot going to your team
• Organize a competition of sorts (softball, kickball, drinking games, etc.) with another registered team or teams
• Host a dinner party and ask each guest to bring a donation in lieu of a housewarming gift
• Throw a golf outing with a nominal donation required (see if the course will give you a discount)
• Ask your work if they'll set up a Denim Day where employees are allowed to wear jeans for a $5 donation to the cause

Got A Skill? Use it!

Use your skills to your advantage. If you're a baker, hold a bake sale. Creative? Sell your creations at community events or give them to people that donate at a certain level.

Encourage Matching Donations

If someone makes a donation to your page, ask if their company does matching gifts and, if so, see if they'll put through a matching gifts form. A great way to double the value of your donations!
